The BMT was established in 2006 as a result of collaborative efforts between the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) and the faculty of AMS. The BMT operates under the supervision of Professor Dr. Watchara Kasinrerk and Associate Professor Dr. Chatchai Tayapiwatana who have recruited a number of young and enthusiastic researchers of MT with the core technologies of molecular technology and antibody production.

The BMT conducts both basic and applied research. The objectives are to develop unique technologies for production of protein antigens and antibodies and to perform basic research on leukocyte surface molecules, tumor biology, and thalassemia and gene therapy. The development of high performance immunodiagnostic kits for several emerging diseases in Thailand is actively pursued. In addition, the research center also provides public service of antigen and antibody productions.
