The Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences (AMS), Chiang Mai University, led by Professor Dr. Sakorn Pornprasert, Dean, alongside Assistant Professor Dr. Phuanjai Rattakorn, Assistant Dean, and Assistant Professor Dr. Wasana Sirirungsi, President of the AMS CMU Alumni Association, together with current students and staff, gathered to give a warm welcome to the new freshmen ("Luk Chang" or Baby Elephants) of the faculty. The welcoming took place during the annual "CMU Trekking by Train" (Rap Nong Rot Fai) Traditional Event 2026, held at Sala Dham, Chiang Mai University, on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The 2026 "CMU Trekking by Train" tradition is a flagship activity aimed at fostering strong relationships among freshmen, upperclassmen, and alumni. It also facilitates the journey of first-year students traveling from their hometowns to Chiang Mai University. The special train departed from Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok and headed to Chiang Mai Railway Station, making scheduled stops to pick up incoming freshmen at Lopburi, Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, and Nakhon Lampang stations. Throughout the journey, CMU alumni from various provinces gathered at each station to provide an incredibly warm and encouraging welcome.
