The Establishment Project for Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Equipment and Academic Service Center, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Phennapha Klangsinsirikul and the project working group, welcomed an assessment committee from the Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, led by Professor Dr. Suda Louisirirojanakul. The site visit aimed to evaluate the facility for a Group 3 Pathogen License (BSL-3) in accordance with the Pathogens and Animal Toxins Act, B.E. 2558 (2015). The assessment took place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the HPB4 Building, Chiang Mai University "Hariphunchai" Education Center, Lamphun Province.
During the visit, the committee received an overview presentation from the project team before conducting a detailed inspection of the BSL-3 laboratory. The evaluation focused on key standards, including the physical facility for producing or possessing pathogens, the readiness of operational tools and equipment, packaging and labeling, and the overall laboratory safety and quality management systems.
The session concluded with a joint summary of the assessment results, which will be used in the licensing process for Group 3 pathogens. This ensuring that the facility adheres to international standards and guarantees the highest level of safety for future operations.
