The Infection and Immunity Research Group (I&I CMU), led by Assistant Professor Dr. Ganjana Lertmemongkolchai and Dr. Chidchamai Kewcharoengwong, together with faculty members from the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, organized a workshop on “Integrating Research for Clinical and Environmental Collaboration 2025.” The event aimed to promote the integration of research knowledge into clinical practice, as well as to foster research development related to environmental issues and antimicrobial resistance. The workshop took place on Friday, 21 November 2025, at Kantary Hills Hotel, Chiang Mai.
The program featured presentations on the progress of research projects related to PM2.5 particulate matter, an integrative research initiative involving Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Medical Technology. Additional presentations highlighted the development of a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory, and environmental sampling of microorganisms by the Environmental Science Research Group led by Associate Professor Dr. Wasu Pathom-aree from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, along with his team.
Furthermore, experts in infectious diseases provided online updates on antimicrobial-resistant organisms and strategies for prevention and control from hospitals within the research network across three provinces. Speakers included:
- Dr. Saengrawee Juhong, Lamphun Hospital
- Dr. Supachok Kemla, Nakhon Phanom Hospital
- Dr. Suwimon Kuehsuwan, Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital
They delivered lectures and engaged in discussions with participants. The workshop also featured presentations on immune response studies against Acinetobacter baumannii—a major concern in current multidrug-resistant infections—delivered by PhD researchers, research assistants, and doctoral students within the research group.
The event concluded with a discussion on future collaborative directions to enhance the quality of integrated research and to strengthen sustainable partnerships by engaging with leading experts and international research networks.
